In The Face of All Things Unknown

In the Face of All Things Unknown is a story of self-discovery and the search for identity, love and spiritual fulfilment. Isha’s journey sees her struggling to reconcile the two cultures that she is born into. Isha travels to the motherland (India) in her quest to attain some sense of belonging between her conservative Indian heritage and that of being a young British teenager. Her travels help her forge and develop a new-found sense of identity for herself and understand the meaning of Love.

As Isha grows into a young woman, we see how, as a young lawyer, she struggles to lie in the bed that she had made for herself, especially when life throws many obstacles and challenges in her path. When Isha’s marriage begins to disintegrate and break down, she reaches rock bottom. A chance encounter with a handsome stranger, Krish, helps her to unravel the divine messages that have been sent to her. As Isha chooses to grow in her faith, she learns to overcome her fears and discovers her own ‘divine love’. It is through the eyes of Krish that she begins to find her way back home, to her authentic, fulfilled self.

With its reflections on the power of love in all its manifestations – physical, parental, maternal, marital and divine – In the Face of All Things Unknown takes you on a heartfelt, spiritual journey that will resonate with anyone seeking answers in the modern world.

Reviews

"A wonderfully, thought-provoking book. In the Face of All Things Unknown is a story which feels as though it talks to you, as it takes you on the transcending, spiritual journey triggered by Ishas’ divorce. It is easy to identify with the Protagonists’ fears and emotions, which are very relatable and shared by many, especially when a failed relationship stirs up an emotional crisis within us."

"An extremely powerful story detailing Ishas’ life and the struggles she encountered whilst in the pursuit of finding love and meaningful connections. It teaches never to give up and have persistence and patience for better things to come. The way Shilpe has written the book makes you feel you are present in the moment and living through her words. Fantastic read."

In the Face of All Things Unknown has everything for the emotionally and spiritually inquisitive reader. A story of trial and triumph, of moving landscapes and of one woman’s growth through fear, and emotional oppression. The story tells of a young British Asian woman growing up in England behind bay windows and a public school with all the hopes and dreams typical of a young girl. With a contrasting backdrop of India and the struggle to secure an identity for herself, Isha is a character many women who have fallen in love and found that love a cold, stark place, will understand. Isha turns her vulnerabilities into strength and looks within herself to find the path out of her pain and frustration. If you like journeying with a relatable, likeable, and inspirational character, In the Face of All Things Unknown is definitely for you.
